ABOUT THE ARTIST
Lua Brice is a New York City based artist who investigates the fundamental interplay of light, sound, and space.
Brice's 2-D work explores the phenomenon of structural color through an innovative, pigment-free process. Rather than using traditional paint, Brice “paints” with electricity on titanium plates, creating microcrystalline structures that interact with light to produce vivid, refracted hues similar to the iridescent shimmer seen in butterfly wings.
Each piece is entirely handcrafted and emerges through a slow, durational process where time, not voltage, becomes the primary medium. Through a steady, meditative gesture, Brice fosters the gradual growth of crystals across the metal surface, resulting in a subtle yet luminous build-up of color. This highly focused technique requires deep concentration and patience, with every artwork embodying both the visual beauty of light-based color and the quiet intensity of its making.
The recent series Refracted Light emerged from the artist’s dedication to material innovation, spiritual presence, and the poetic potential of light itself.

Lua Brice also creates immersive light and sound installations with a focus on fostering participant engagement. "Through these profound sensory experiences, I invite viewers to reimagine their understanding of the world around them," says Brice.
Brice's work is characterized by a focus on the interconnectedness of all things and the unseen forces that shape our perception of reality.
Lua Brice holds a Masters of Architecture from RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia with an exchange period at Parsons School of Design in New York. She was the feature artist at SCOPE Art Show Miami Beach in 2024, with her immersive sound-and-light installation Folding Light showcased in the art fair's atrium.
